Middlewich Town 2
Middlewich Athletic Old Boys 1
MICK Jump celebrated his 18 years' service for Middlewich Town with an emotional testimonial game at Seddon Street on Saturday.
The veteran defender played half a game for each side as Town beat a Middlewich Athletic Old Boys side 2-1.
An enjoyable game featured appearances from some well-known faces who have graced the Seddon Street turf, including Colin Moss, John Price, Mark Dean, Mike Tully, Paul McAleer and the present Town manager Dave Twite.
Among the tributes paid to Jump was one from vice-chairman John McAteer, who said: "Mick Jump has been a model footballer with his commitment and endeavour.
"Any young player coming into the game need not look any further for a role model than Mick."
Those sentiments were echoed by Twite, who said: "I have played with Mick for 12 years and managed him for three years and he has always kept himself in superb condition.
"I'm sure he can still continue playing for a number of years to come."
Nottingham Forest star Ian Woan presented Jump with a crystal decanter and glasses, engraved with a message of thanks for his 18 years' service.
Kathy Jump received a bunch of flowers from Dave Twite, and Mick's two sons were each presented with a Middlewich Town football.
Jump thanked the club for organising the event, and he also thanked Dave Twite for assembling the Old Boys squad.
Town won the game with goals from Eddie Whitehurst and Chris O'Bonna, while Jump fittingly scored a penalty for the Old Boys.
