A SOLID performance from Davenham in the Meller Braggins Second Division steered them to victory away at Malpas, providing them with a much needed boost up the league table.

Paul Wright grabbed three wickets for 44 as Malpas reached 171-6 before declaring.

Davenham responded well and reached the total with three wickets to spare.

Dave Holden hit an excellent 45 with Andrew Floyd weighing in with a solid 30.

Barnton's bowlers struggled to make an impression on a good batting wicket at High Lane.

Pete Gibbon took all four wickets for 66 runs as the home side charged to 230 before declaring.

John Burgess (32) and Phil Wingfield (73) put on a good partnership of 107 to give Barnton a chance of victory.

Barnton's challenge faded as both were dismissed and they batted out the innings to take a share of the points, closing on 156-5

Oakmere battled well against Division One high-flyers Bredbury despite missing a number of players through injuries or holidays.

They opened the batting and solid knocks from Paul Guilford (51) and Peter Jones (50) took them to a creditable 157-7.

Bredbury always looked comfortable and they passed the total for the loss of six wickets. Nick Talbot-Butler was the pick of Oakmere's attack taking 3-46.

A magnificent all round performance from Jamie Allen just wasn't enough to save Weaverham from defeat against Lindow.

Allen took 3-41 as Lindow opened the batting and made 185-9. Alan Holcroft also collected 4-64 before Allen did the business with the bat to make a splendid 90.

It wasn't enough though as Weaverham were dismissed 11 runs short of the target.
