Flint Town United 4

Northwich Vics 3

A LAST minute thunderbolt from Flint Town United substitute Mike Andrews was enough to give the Welsh side victory in a topsy-turvy game on Saturday.

Keeper Lance Key had no chance as Andrews hammered the ball into the roof of the net to seal victory after Vics had fought back from 3-1 down in a desperate bid to salvage the game.

Vics started well and took the lead with an exquisite 18-yard lob from Neil Illman inside the very first minute.

But the home side soon settled and took advantage of poor defending and an injury to young centre half Nick Boothby to rattle home three goals before the break.

A difficult surface and Flint's physical marking saw Illman join Boothby on the bench while new signing Damien Logan struggled to find his feet.

Vics piled on the pressure in the second half and Darren Vicary reduced the defecit with a 67th minute penalty.

Mark Devlin latched on to a mistake by Flint defender Kevin Jones 10 minutes from time to make the scores level, but Andrews put the game beyond the Greens in the dying seconds.
