ARSONISTS are suspected of starting two fires in Hartford, last week - which caused thousands of pounds damage.

A tennis club pavilion was completely gutted and a mobile classroom at a school was wrecked.

Police are baffled as to a motive and are appealing to the public for information.

They are increasingly concerned that someone is going to get killed unless the culprits are caught.

"This is getting well out of control. It is imperative that we catch these people or someone is going to get hurt. One of these jobs could go badly wrong," said DC Glyn Leach, of Northwich police.

The first incident happened last Thursday at around 7.55am.

A timber building used as a pavilion at Beach Tennis Club, at the back of Bradburns Lane, was burned to the ground.

"It was well alight by the time we got there but we managed to get the fire under control in a relatively short time," said firefighter Paul Hardwick.

Then on Saturday night, a mobile classroom at Hartford High School Lower school was set alight.

Ian Callister, of Cheshire County Council, said: "It was a double mobile classroom.

"There was damage to the structure of one which had general classroom equipment including a computer. The other mobile classroom suffered smoke damage."

Damage is estimated between £6,000 and £8,000.
