Halton Scaffolding Pool League
PAUL HAWKINS won the Town Singles Pool championship with an emphatic 5-2 victory over reigning champion Lenny Hatton.
This was a match played in front of a great turnout at Simms Cross pub who witnessed two of the leagues best players have a head-to-head with the first frame taking 30 minutes.
After nip-and-tuck Lenny went on to take the frame.
Frame two wasn't quite so long Paul made made an eight ball clearance of the table to level 1-1 with the next three frames lasting an average of 20 minutes each.
You had to appreciate the tactics and thinking of both players at this level of pool.
Even though each frame was won by forcing errors from Lenny you have to admire the determination by Paul Hawkins while at the table he finished each frame in a cool and calculated manner racing into a 4-1 lead.
It looked all over but Lenny had other ideas taking the next making it 2-4, was this a comeback?
Unfortunately not.
Only needing one for the match Paul finished off a good clearance to lift the trophy he so dearly wanted and deserves.
Match kindly sponsored by Simms Cross pub.
In Section Four the Oddfellows have dropped out, so any team due to play them will have a bye.
Any team who have already played them will have points adjusted accordingly.
