AN inspired performance from Alvanley on Saturday gave them another win and allows them a cushion as they go into their free week this week.

Asked to bat first against Oulton Park Alvanley made a good start on a fast bouncy wicket.

Adam Carolan (17) and Andy Benson (21) posted 40 for the first wicket but from here on the innings took a nose-dive.

Five lbw's and a calamitous run out ripped the heart out of the home team.

After Fisher had crashed 20 only, the tail ushered by Chris Fletcher saved Alvanley from complete capitulation.

148 from 50 overs should not have been enough.

Enter Alvanley's spin twins and some top class fielding.

Phil Jones took and early scalp but with the wicket beginning to turn it was Rob Fisher and Ric Elviss who took centre stage.

Dutton never gave up the victory chase, three stumpings for the excellent Chris Fletcher being proof of that.

But when Rob Thomas caught a steepler to remove the dangerous John's victory came into sight for the home team.

Elviss with three for 21 bowled his best spell of the season and Fisher's six for 42 wrapped up proceedings and presented Alvanley with 22 points.

The Second XI won again, restricting Cholmondley to 180-9 (James Ryder 3-50).

Alvanley raced home for the loss of just three wickets.

Rob Jones cracked 70, Ed Cottrell 37 and Jolly Faria 29.
