LIFE is looking star-shaped for Great Sankey heart-throb Michael Norris as he tries to forge a shining future in television.

Fresh from a brief stint on Coronation Street, the 22-year-old rising star was a scene-stealer in Granada's My Wonderful Life.

The role - he played a council worker called to Emma Wray's home - is the latest brush with fame for the former St Gregory's High pupil.

He appeared on screen, on the same weekend, alongside corner shop worker Vikram in The Street - making his face famous as far south as Nottingham! Michael, of Sycamore Lane, said: "I was in a petrol station there when someone came up to me and said 'Were you in Coronation Street?'

"It does give you a bit of a buzz that someone has noticed you. You get lots of fanmail if you appear on there as well."

Future appearances on Manchester's most famous cobbles could still be in the pipeline.

But whatever happens, he has the good fortune of being taken under the showbiz wing of former Take That maestro Nigel Martin-Smith.

Meanwhile, a presenting role for a children's programme with Yorkshire TV is due to be filmed as Michael waits for the call which could put his name up in lights.

He is currently compiling a promotional tape to advance his presenting aspirations.
