KNYPERSLEY travel to Wolverhampton this Sunday for a quarter-final cup clash earned by a victory over league highfliers Moddershall.

Knypersley made 199 for eight on Sunday at home to Moddershall in the third round of the Staffs Cup in their 45 overs.

Moddershall collapsed to 120 for eight in reply, and ran out of men to end all out for 172.

The victory followed a disappointing batting display from third-placed Knypersley on Saturday at Audley in the league.

Knypersley were bowled out for only 153, and Audley squeezed home with two wickets to spare on 157 for eight.

Knypersley were in trouble against Moddersall early on at 52 for four, but recovered thanks to Paul Bates and Chris Barry, who added 67 for the fifth wicket.

Barry top scored with 45, ahead of 32 for Bates, and Andy Farr and Neil Dutton provided another important 43 partnership at the end, the pair unbeaten on 24 and 16 respectively.

Moddershall were reduced to 36 for three, but the next pair added 51 for the fourth wicket before a further four men were dismissed for the addition of only 33 runs.

Andy Farr, Mark Tournier, Darren Washington and Neil Dutton took two wickets each.

Paul Goodwin top scored for Knypersley against Audley with 35, ahead of 27 for Rob James and 26 from Bates, Audley's stand in professional Wasim the thorn in their side, taking five for 38.

Audley struggled to 136 for eight, but their eighth and ninth men saw them home.

Andy Farr claimed a season's best figures with five for 42, backed by two for 62 from Tournier and a wicket for Dutton.
