JERMAINE Wright completed his move from Crewe, last week but headed for Ipswich instead of Notts Forest.
Ipswich decided to follow up their earlier interest in the 23 year old midfielder and manager George Burley's offer of a four year contract with a guarantee of first team football saw off David Platt's original approach.
"I spoke to David Platt at the City Ground and I was Impressed, but I need first-team football and there are no guarantee's of that at Forest." stated Wright.
Ipswich Chairman David Sheepshanks said of Kieron Dyer's potential replacement, "We are delighted Jermaine has come to Portman Road, he will be a fundamental part of our first team."
Crewe received £500,000 for Wright, a considerable profit on a player signed for £25,000 rising to double on appearances.
