TWENTY nine children from Belarus, ill in the aftermath of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster, will arrive in South Cheshire this coming Saturday, July 31.

Local families will be acting as their hosts during their four week stay which was initiated by the Crewe and Nantwich Weaver Rotary Club.

The sick youngsters, between five and twelve years old, will all benefit from the fun, fresh air and a contaminant-free diet. The Crewe Asda store is donating fresh fruit and vegetables.

Some special outings and treats have been lined up, including a five day stay at an outdoor centre near Buxton.

Neighbouring rotary clubs are lending a hand with the arrangements.

This is the third time the Belarussion children have come to the Crewe and Nantwich area. Nine of them have been before and will be reunited with the families that cared for previously.
