CAN anyone tell me when the official closing of Winwick as a village is, as I would like to attend the ceremony. I'm sure it must be any day now.
Unfortunately the people of Winwick can no longer be classed as being residents of a village because I don't know of any villages that have a B&Q Superstore, a 300 home residential development on the outskirts, a 42 bed lodge that has now destroyed the appeal of the local pub, another 42 home residential development that will tear down a 150 year old hedge (I thought the Government were committed to saving the countryside, I must have imagined that), juggernauts and a constant stream of speeding traffic (when the roads are not clogged up). This does not sound like a village to me! It sounds like a nightmare.
Perhaps all these property developers who are invading Winwick would let us know where they live in Warrington - or perhaps they live somewhere that is still nice and nowhere near here!!!
And in case anyone is in any doubt how not only Winwick but Warrington has been destroyed, I came across a leaflet issued by yet another "lodge" just built in Warrington which mentions Warrington City Centre - not Town!!! Sadly that says it all.
So, when you next need to visit one of the many DIY stores in Warrington City Centre, why not have a drive to a really, really, huge one in Winwick City Centre (provided the roads aren't clogged up!!!)
