THE week has been dominated by a dual de-oxygenation at both Spring Pool and Grimsditch Mill Pool.

Due to Lymm Angling Club's proactive approach the problem was detected by routine checks conducted by officers of the club before fish showed any signs of distress. The aeration that followed alleviated the problems immediately.

This operation has been made possible by the volunteers who, without a second thought, jumped into the breach and manned the pumps 24 hours of the day, which is a requirement of the Environment Agency who have loaned us the equipment required.

Unfortunately a number of members are being turned away from the water whilst aeration is necessary and the club apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Members who can help man the equipment please give Jeff Spencer a ring on 481709. He wil be very pleased to hear from you.

On the fishing scene New Pool is a 'Bream Dream,' with fish being caught by the 100s from all around the pool. Most baits and methods are working, with a fish a chuck almost guaranteed. Amongst the bream are good perch, uncoloured goldfish, golden rudd and of course the occasional catfish.

Both situated on Fingerpost Farm near Knutsford, Mossbank and Fingerpost Pools are fishing very well with crucian carp dominating most catches. On Whitley Pool, Peter Done spent an evening session, just into dark, and managed to land 15 tench averaging 3.5lbs.

Carp to 5lbs are plentiful in the morning and evenings with this week's best fish being a ghost carp of 23lbs-0zs-0drms.

Club chairman, Rick Filipowski, spent last Sunday afternoon on Lymmvale and soon had a full mix of species on the surface taking his floating baits. Rick reports hooking a carp which was unstoppable, but he managed to witness fellow official Ken Davies land carp to 18-8-0.

Dave and Eunace Shard had another beano on the River Severn, this time at Llandrinio. Dave filled his boots landing barbel to 11-0-0, these along wth plenty of chub. In the meantime Eunace fared just as well trotting a stick float, which will be good practice for her as she will be fishing the Ladies National on the River Severn on Saturday.

On that note may I wish all the local women good luck and tight lines for this event. It is the major women's fishing event, and will be fished on the River Severn at Shrewsbury. On the Lymm women's behalf many thanks to all who have advised them on methods and baits.
