DON'T be left in the dark!

That's the warning from the Highways Agency this week to anyone planning to travel to Cornwall for the eclipse on August 11.

Motorists are being urged to use the Highways Agency information line 0345 504030 and web site www.highways.gov.uk to check the latest conditions before setting out.

Highways Agency eclipse co-ordinator Malcolm Wilkinson said:"If you are planning to travel to the south west for the eclipse, our advice is to allow plenty of time.

"Avoid the Friday evening and Saturday before the event, check travel conditions before leaving home and listen to the radio on the way.

"We anticipate it will be extremely difficult for people to travel into the West Country to reach the area on the day of the eclipse."
