ALBION made certain of retaining the Summer League Section One championship last Thursday night when a 15 dart game from P Melia helped his team to run out 7/2 winners against bottom of the table RNA.

Second placed Dockside B lost their outside chance of the title when they went down 5/4 to fourth placed Lion Doo waps and the race is now on for the runner-up spot on third place.

Halfway A are now level on points with Dockside B after beating Wanderers 6/3.

Fifth placed Jolly Brewer kept their hopes of a top four place very much alive when they beat Cherry Tree A Team 6/3.

Victories for the three leading teams in Section Two has left the section as wide open as ever.

Leaders Likely Lads ran out 5/4 winners against fifth placed Crofters with the losers suffering their third defeat on the run to put them out of the running for the section title.

Barge's S Allan produced a 15 dart game but his team eventually went down 5/4 to second placed Pirates.

Third placed Pavilions gained their eighth successive league victory on the run when they ran out 6/3 winners against bottom of the table Norton A.

Halfway Gents gained their third victory of the season when they beat next to the bottom Waterloo 6/3.

Dreadnaughts took a step nearer to the Section four title when they beat previously joint second placed Prospect Has Beens 6/3 and Railway are now in outright second place after beating the Burma 7/2.

Raven look set for the remaining top spot after they beat Beachers 6/3.

At the foot of the table Roundhouse B and Croft Magnets exchanged places after the former won this fixture 5/4.

Outcasts and Halton Marauders continue to dominate in Section Three.

Leaders Outcasts gained a 6/3 away victory over Docksiders with the losers slipping to fifth place.

Second placed Halton Marauders clawed back a little on average on the leaders when they comprehensively beat bottom of the table The Tup 8/1.

Third placed Lion lost their outside chance of the title when they went down 7/2 to Draymen with the winners moving up to fourth place.

Union Vaults stay next to the bottom in the table after losing out 5/4 to third from the bottom Castle.

Windmill maintained their two points advantage at the top of Section Five after they beat fourth placed Grapes 6/3.

Second placed Dock Lads kept in touch with a 7/2 victory over bottom of the table Total Confusion and third placed Barley Mow remain a further two points adrift after beating Halfway Mixed 6/3.

The Third Round of the Doubles Competition took place at the Waterloo Hotel last Friday night with the remaining eight pairs competing for the final two places.

The first quarter-final resulted in a 2/0 victory for Dockside B's Sean Bell and Graham Littlemore against Cherry Tree A's Kevin Jones whose partner was unfortunately away on holiday.

Mark Smith and Tom Humphries (Roundhouse B) then had a bye into the semi-finals.

The next quarter-final resulted in a 2/0 win for Jolly Brewer's Steve Roberts and Jon Hillan against Tony Furnival and Norman Corke at Dockside B with the remaining quarter-final resulting in a 2/0 victory for Wanderers Alan Boardman and Graham Ridgway over Outcasts Trevor Sefton and Kevin Goodall.

In the first semi-final Mark and Tom ran out 2/1 winners against Sean and Graham with Steve and John then beating Alan and Graham by the same score.

This Saturday (7th) is the closing date for registrations for the 1999/2000 Winter League.

League officials will be on hand to receive those at the Waterloo Hotel between 7.30pm and 10pm.

When registering their teams holders of league trophies from the last Summer League are reminded that those should be returned.
