WARRINGTON Athletics Club's women's athletes completed their Northern Women's Track and Field Division Three campaign at Trafford.

Going into the match the team knew that only a victory would earn promotion as four teams, including Warrington, were joint top with nine match points each.

Warrington were third in the match with 391 points which means the team will remain in Division Three W with Pendle promoted and Manchester and Rochdale relegated.

The seniors were well served by Louisa Wood, who was third in the 400m A in 63.0secs, the 400m hurdles A in 74.5secs and second in the B triple jump with 8.49 metres.

The record for most events completed on a swelteringly hot day went to Kelly Grayson with eight. Pick of her events were victory in the A triple jump, 9.06m, second in the B 400m hurdles, 76.2secs and third in the 100m hurdles A, 19.6secs.

Katie Brennan won the 1500m A in 4mins 59.3secs while Alison Hartop won the 3000m A in 11mins 24.5secs.

Emma Makin had three straight wins in the 75m hurdles, 11.7, the 100m B, 13.1, and the long jump A in 4.41m.

The under 17s age group were missing several athletes due to injury and holidays but every team member showed great commitment in completing all their permitted events.

Kathy Curtis had an excellent day, taking second in the 100m A in 13.5secs, second in the 200m A, 27.9secs, and winning the 300 B in 44.3secs. Lisa Hitchen was second in the 100m, 14.0secs, 200m B in 29.6secs and fourth in the A long jump 4.02m.
