MODEST hooker David Highton is refusing to let his run in the first team go to his head.

The Under 21s Alliance player deputised for the injured Danny Farrar for the win at Sheffield and impressed enough to hold down his place for the win over Hull on Sunday.

But speaking after another solid display, he knew there could be no place for complacency if he was to make the position his own.

He said: "I'm delighted to be getting a run in the first team but no-one's guaranteed a place and that keeps everyone on their toes with players working from day to day.

"I thought I did okay. I wasn't really pleased with how I played and I started to get tired towards the latter part of the match after playing for Lancashire Academy against Yorkshire on Wednesday night.

"It was a good win for us. We were hoping to improve our points difference and we struggled early on by not completing our sets of tackles and giving penalties away.

"But we have the two points and it keeps our hopes alive of a top five place."
