CHESHIRE police have got the green light for their move to new headquarters.
Proposals to relocate from Chester to a more central part of the county by 2003 look set to go ahead following news this week that the government has agreed funding.
The location of the new HQ has not yet been decided. The force is to seek a partner in the private sector who will spearhead that decision and be responsible for construction.
Northwich has been muted as a possible location for the HQ and training centre which would transfer from its current home in Crewe.
The force will begin talks with the private sector in the autumn.
