OVER 3'S fine start to the season came to an end with a 3-2 defeat against a more experienced Greenbank side in the Mid-Cheshire Sunday League Division Three.
Over led 2-1 at half-time through goals by leading scorer, 18-year-old John Hughes. The second was a 30-yard shot that the goalkeeper didn't have time to move for.
In the second half, Over continued to take the game to their Northwich opponents, but the turning point came when striker Rob Murphy, a 19-year-old once on the books of Stoke and Crewe, missed a one-on-one chance with the keeper.
From this point the Over youngsters seemed to run out of steam.
Greenbank equalised with 15 minutes to go and then scored what was to be the winning goal five minutes from time.
Over now look forward to a District Cup Second Round match next week against Pickmere Red Lion at Knights Grange.
