VERDIN High School pupils have found the perfect way to get around while they wait for funds for some new wheels - go on foot.
A 900-strong party from the school set off across Winsford on Friday to raise money for a new school bus.
Led by a pair of horses, the walkers set off from the school, down Grange Lane and Whitegate Way before stopping for a well-earned lunch at Whitegate Station. The return journey made the trek up to four miles long.
When the students need to take longer journeys, the minibus will be used to transport them to sports games, concerts, theatre trips and sixth form outings.
More than £4,000 was raised, with one form in Year 8 really getting into their stride with a class total of £450.
Teacher Jackie Hammond said: "It was a wonderful day. We were very lucky with the weather and the pupils all seemed to enjoy it."
