MEMBERS of Winsford and Middlewich Rotary Club will be in fine spirits when they hold a unique festival for the first time this weekend.

The Cheshire Whisky Tasting event takes place at the Masonic Hall, Middlewich, this Friday, October 15, and organisers hope it will become a major annual event.

A selection of more than 20 malts will be passing the lips of whisky lovers, including well known brands and several rare ones too.

As well as a good excuse to knock back a few drams, the evening is in aid of a worthy cause, to raise money for Winsford's Neuromuscular Centre.

John Blain, chairman of special projects, said: "We hope it's going to be a successful evening and raise a substantial amount of money for the Neuromuscular Centre.

"We would like to see as many people there as possible and we are hoping that, like Northwich Beer Festival, it can become an annual event."

Live music on the night will be provided by local duo Fair Exchange.

The evening runs from 7pm to 11pm, tickets cost £5 and are available from Tomlinson Health Insurance, High Street, Winsford and Niddries Coaches, Lewin Street, Middlewich.

They are also available by telephone, from Ken Tomlinson on 75130 or John Blain on 852130.
