WITH the imminent arrival of winter and inevitable dark rain sodden nights.

May I take this opportunity to remind drivers that all cars are now equipped with a handbrake - the location of which appears to be an alien concept to the average motorist.

Drivers please note that while you are sitting at traffic lights or in a queue with your foot on the brake you are effectively blinding the person unlucky enough to be at your rear.

Your high level rear light is positioned to cause maximum dazzle and most of you never fail to take full advantage of this pointless new innovation.

To counteract the dazzle you can do either of two things, one wear dark glasses (not very practical in winter), two - do what I do, stay back from the thoughtless driver in front, an extra car's length, and put your headlights on full beam, it is so satisfying watching them adjust their mirror, make sure you don't blind oncoming traffic.
