WEAVER Valley Cycling Club's final road race of the season was efficiently promoted on Sunday by members and friends on a circuit based on Antrobus and Great Budworth.
The seven-mile circuit was covered six-and-a-half times by the 50-rider bunch. Weaver Valley provided riders Simon Boone, Lee Collar, Paul Lawson, Martin Jones, Dave Astles, Mark Astles, Chris Boyle and David Lawson.
The circuit, with its climbs and false flat, was still covered in less than 16 minutes, which took its toll and produced a 30-man bunch sprint for second place.
Mark Flynn, of Oldham Century, attacked on the final time up Heald Lane with three miles to go and stayed clear to win by 16 seconds in 1 hr 50 mins.
The Weaver Valley riders finished in the bunch, apart from Dave Astles and Lee Collar who punctured.
A club run will be held on Sunday and leaves Iron Bridge at 9.30am, bound for Two Mills on the Wirral.
