PLANS to fell 13 trees along London Road because they are blocking light in people's gardens have been criticised by a pensioner.
John McLachlan says that Vale Royal Borough Council is wrong to claim that the 100-year-old trees are restricting sunlight for residents in Brockhurst Road.
He has lived nearby in Lime Court for the past 15 years and believes that the sun does shine on to their gardens.
Mr McLachlan said: "The sun rises from the east and it's at the back of all these houses in Brockhurst Road. It sweeps round to the south and must then fall mainly on the gardens in Brockhurst Road during midday. Then it sweeps round to the west.
"Towards the end of the day they might have some light blocked out just after 6pm, but that's not enough to complain that the trees should be chopped down."
