A PENSIONER has warned someone could be killed unless dangerous parking in Hartford is stopped.
Clive Penny says huge vans park on double yellow lines and on pavements in School Lane - forcing pedestrians on to the road.
Now he wants the police to clamp down on hazardous parking.
Mr Penny lives in Lodge Lane and regularly walks to the shops in School Lane.
"The police were trying to catch speeding motorists on School Lane in Hartford with their guns recently," he said.
"At the same time there are vans parked on double yellow lines and on the pathway outside shops forcing young women with their push chairs on to the road.
"I ask the police, where do their priorities lie?
"To me it's scandalous. They are spending goodness knows how long on the speed traps when these people are at the other end of the road in danger."
Mr Penny admitted that speeding is also a concern on School Lane - but he believes that unsafe parking is a more urgent matter.
Sgt Blair Wilson said that traffic police would be cracking down on illegal parking in Hartford soon.
He said: "We have actually asked the traffic wardens to look at the parking problems in Hartford. We use two traffic wardens to go round a number of towns and places, so we have had to wait to get them up there."
