TV presenter Anthea Turner will be paying a special visit to Leighton Hospital next month.

The TV celebrity will meet staff and patients in the new outpatient unit for children.

She will be joining a second guest of honour, Dr Krishnan Chandran, recently retired consultant paediatrician, who established and developed Leighton's paediatric service.

The unit is to be named in his honour and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the official opening of the new facilities on November 1.

Anthea will then be given a tour of the unit and will meet young patients and their parents as well as people treated by Dr Chandran during his 27 years with Mid Cheshire Hospitals Trust.

The Krishnan Chandran Children's Centre opened the doors to its first patients in July, following the completion of a £184,000 project to provide purpose-built, safe and welcoming outpatient amenities for children.

It caters for the special needs of thousands of young visitors annually.
