VOLUNTEERS are being invited to roll up their sleeves to help with a facelift at a former Congleton school.
The main hall at what is known as Mossley Old School has been redecorated as part of plans to turn it into a thriving community centre.
The next phase is redecorating the rear hall, and local people are being asked to help out at a painting weekend on November 13 and 14.
The Leek Road building is 150 years old, and is earmarked for a major refurbishment and possible purchase to transform it into a focal point for local groups.
The project is the brainchild of a number of local groups, led by former Mossley Primary School head Doris McGowan.
The newly-refurbished main hall is being used by a number of groups including keep fit and a floral group, plus mother and baby and ballroom dancing groups are due to join the growing band.
Mrs McGowan raised £350 for the project by playing the violin non-stop for four hours, 1st Mossley Scouts brought in £75 from a raffle, and Siemens gave £200 for sports equipment.
Anyone who would like to help at the painting weekend ring Mrs McGowan on 01782 777712, Scout members, or come along at 10am.
The group also need a treasurer, and anyone interested can ring Mrs McGowan or Jean Vale on 272704.
