A NANTWICH group is hoping to get late night buses re-installed in the town on Friday and Saturday nights.
The town was taken off the route about two years ago after problems with passenger security and safety.
But now the Local Agenda 21 Transport Group in the borough would like to negotiate with police and the bus companies involved to find a way of re-introducing them.
Peter Foster, of the LA21 Transport Group, said: "While we understand there may be problems with staff and passenger security on Friday and Saturday night, Nantwich is not unique in having a 'night-life' and the associated problems.
"Other towns presumably have had similar problems and worked out with the police and bus companies how to overcome them.
"In the light of the County Council Local Transport Plan to make improvements at Nantwich Bus Station the Group would like to see Transport Co-ordination negotiate for a solution with the police and Arriva Buses.
"To give in to the problem and route buses elsewhere rather undermines the case for investment at Nantwich Bus Station to attract new bus passengers."
The Crewe and Nantwich District Public Transport Liaison Committee will discuss the situation when it meets on Monday.
