WIDNES scored three of their five tries from set-pieces. Firstly Critchley picked up from the scrum-base to gallop 40 yards, then Glover went through on a dummy scissors and Chambers crashed over from the front of a line-out. Critchley added a second and McCann a revelation at flanker, crowned a great game with a power score.

WIDNES scored 10 tries and keept a clean sheet. The forwards and backs combined well and dominated the game from start to finish in a polished performance. Alan Carr was dominant in the line-outs, and the Widnes forwards made penetrating attack after attack down the middle of the home defence. When the forwards did spin the ball wide the backs handling was impressive adding further scores.Andrew White put in another big performance running in four tries and the other try scorers for Widnes were Liam Morton, Alan Carr, Kevin Farrow, Danny Woods, Adam Rowlands and Jack Cosgrove.

THE entire squad all played their part with Newns making a fine debut and a superb defensive tackling performance from Wood, Webb, Kenyon and Rigby and Doolan and McLindon showing prominently in both attack and defence. Parry continued to show development and Cooke, Harden, Borrowman, Seville and Oatley provided the valuable support. McLindon (5) and Doolan (3) shared the tries, in each half with Webb completing the scoring with an individual effort.

Wids u8 Bulldogs 55 Northwich u8 30

NORTHWICH provided dogged resistance to the free-flowing Bulldogs and a half-time score of 25-30 reflected this. An early blind-sided try by Lang set the tone for the second-half as the Bulldogs tightened their defence and put in a stunning offensive display. This was capped off by a length of the field effort, by Schofield in the dying minutes. Scorers were Farrow (2), Lang (2), Magen (3,), Schofield (2) and William (2).

Wids u8 Bulls 55 Northwich 45

THE BULLS matched the Bulldogs 11 try haul in this keenly-fought and highly-entertaining match. The Bulls demonstrated excellent commitment and ultimately it was their will to win which saw them home. Captain Rimmer led form the front scoring a try in each half. He was well-supported by the whole team which are gelling into a very effective unit. Tries were scored by Burgess (4), Halpin (2), Orme (2,) and George.

A SUPER hat-trick from Christopher Atkin crowned an emphatic victory. Widnes dominated the game throughout showing great flair in attack. Shaw (cpt) and Stewart (2) kept up their record of scoring in each match. Morris and Buckle are improving with every game each crossing the line. Resolute defending from Phillips and Dolan kept the Northwich side out until the very last seconds. A very well-played game, well done boys!

A CHANGE of line-up for a second game led to a closer competition.

Roberts, Whitty , Brownbill and Darwin (cpt) ensured that Northwich had to fight for a draw in the last seconds. Tries where taken well by Shaw, Stewart and Atkin (2). Strong defending is starting to become a hallmark of this team. With more experience, the attack will develop to be a strength.
