Moore 29
Prenton 7
DESPITE earlier agreements to postpone this league fixture Moore were forced to play the fixture and had to face Prenton without the services of many regulars from the first team squad.
The remaining squad members, the players returning from injury and the new faces drafted from the seconds gave ample proof of the strength in depth that exists at Moore.
Moore began strongly and soon had Prenton on the back-foot.
The visitors had no answers to the pressure applied by the Moore forwards and as a result conceded a number of penalties which saw full-back Ian Bradbury kick Moore into an early 9-0 lead.
Moore maintained their superiority and good play in the backs saw debutante Ian Hunter cross the line for a try converted by Bradbury to give Moore a half-time lead of 16-0.
The second-half continued in much the same vain as the first, and it was Bradbury who extended the lead with a try and a conversion to make it 23-0.
Moore then suffered from a lapse in concentration and allowed Prenton to score a converted try to make it 23-7.
With the game coming to a close it was Bradbury who completed the scoring with two penalties to make the final score 29-7.
Ian Bradbury's faultless kicking and fine try deservedly made him Mom.
Moore face Prenton again next week in the second round of the Tetley Vase.
Despite the tie being away from home, this league win and the availability of a near-full squad will promise a confident mood in the Moore camp.
