Halton Girls u12 3 Tranmere Rovers 2
TRANMERE last lost a league game in the 1997/98 season and only one team has managed to score more than one goal against them.
There seemed little hope for Halton when Tranmere scored after less than a minute.
Yet the Borough side have shown by coming from behind against Liverpool and Everton this season, that it is going to take some team to beat them.
The breakthrough came after Kelly Jones broke free on the right, her pin-point cross was controlled superbly by Hannah Pauline who smashed an unstoppable effort home.
They took the lead seconds before half-time. Kelly Jones again sliced open the Tranmere defence for Lucy Osborne to advance before rifling another super goal.
The second-half was another highly entertaining affair, and Halton extended their lead early on. Kelly Jones yet again was the provider.
She attacked the Tranmere defence who must have been sick of the sight of her, picked out Lucy Osborne again and Lucy made a difficult chance look easy, beating the keeper at the near-post.
Defenders Vicky Jones and mom Emma Kirby contested every ball as though their lives depended on it. Natalie Brady, who tormented them all day, went close several times and Hannah Pauline's single goal was scant reward for another excellent display.

AFTER last week's disappointing defeat by Liverpool, Halton came out battling.
Carly Quick and Sarah Lunt were solid in defence. Halton's keeper and mom Kate Jones made some breathtaking saves.
Halton thoroughly tested the Everton defence in the first-half but they stood firm.
Nicky Holden, Errin Denney, Faye Ward and Lauren Caldwell all going near in the first-half.
Everton drew first blood after just 15 seconds of the second-half. Halton replied to the goal with constant pressure which eventually paid dividends. With Denney and Caldwell battling with three Everton defenders, the ball broke lose and Holden blasted from 12 yards out into the Everton net.
Halton continued to pressure Everton and won a corner, Caldwell curling the corner into the Everton net, Everton tried to clear off the line but only succeeded in pushing it across the line. Everton rallied after going 2-1 down but Halton's rearguard stood firm. Halton came close to scoring a third when Faye Ward hit the post.
Everton's equaliser came with just two minutes left when a rare mix-up in Halton's defence left keeper Jones stranded with no chance of stopping the shot.

HALTON Jnrs came up against a bigger more experienced senior side and unfortunately could not hold them.
There were however some bright notes in the match for Halton's girls.
Goalkeeper Sarah Weir again made some excellent saves. Forward Jenny Harden battled on gamely upfront and sub Lauren McKettrick showed promise on her debut.
This season will be a big learning curve for the juniors which they will gain valuable experience from.
