LIVERPOOL Reserves went some way to restoring a bit of derby pride with a deserved 0-2 victory in the mini derby at the Auto Quest Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides fielded a number of players with first team experience including Titi Camera, Eric Meijer and Danny Murphy for Liverpool; Gareth Farrelly, Terry Phelan and Michael Branch for Everton.
Scouts from several clubs were at the Auto Quest along with Reds boss Gerard Houllier, no doubt assessing his players with a view to tonight's (Wednesday) Worthington Cup tie at The Dell.
Both teams had chances in the first-half but it was former Crewe man Danny Murphy who opened the scoring on 34 minutes. Simonsen parried Meijer's shot and Murphy picked up the loose ball and slotted it home.
In the second-half the Blues continued to press for an equaliser but Meijer put the game beyond their reach with a 69th minute header.
Everton Reserves next game at the Auto Quest is on November 23 against Brian Robson's Middlesbrough.
