THE on-form Bridgewater Canal is producing some impressive match results for Warrington Anglers' Association members with the lowest section weight on the Saturday Open being 4lbs-8ozs-0drms.

Pleasure catches of bream and quality perch from all stretches to maggot and caster with punch bread now working well making it a highly recommended venue for this weekend. Has any member found a rod bag at Keckwick? Contact me please.

Keith Green, in a three-hour session on Sunday, netted a diminished Henry at 18-7-0 and another of 14-8-0 on home made boilies. Small pike are a nuisance to anglers fishing for roach.

The Dee has been carrying compensation water this week and is below normal form but conditions could improve for the weekend. Small dace and grayling have been reported.

Members are having good catches of chub to 3lbs from the River Dane with specimens to 4-8-0 taken on caster and meat. Several unstoppable fish on the latter bait which more than likely are barbel.

I have had two salmon over 20lbs reported from our Association-owned stretch of the Ribble this week. Member Joe Fryer took one on worm. Evidently there are also some large sea-trout showing. Reports please.

Fur & Feather tickets are now on sale at the same price as last year, £15, from HQ, Chris Grehan at Matches, or by post to PO Box 71 WA1 1LR. The event will take place on December 19, which is the last Sunday before Christmas and just the right time to win your turkey and Christmas goodies.

Everyone comes away with at least a bottle of alcoholic beverage and enjoys the crack. The grand raffle proceeds are again going to the very worthy St Roccos Hospice.

Also the Junior Match Squad mums have organised a race night on November 26 at St Oswalds Club, Padgate. All members and friends are welcome. Tickets are £2 from HQ or ring Chris Lowndes or Sue Savage on 727624. It promises to be a great night.

HQ Parker Street is open as usual tonight, Friday, for subscriptions, new members, or simply call in for a chat and to catch up on the news. I can be contacted with your queries and catch reports on 01928 716238 Fax 713898.
