TERRY Daniels and Joe Hughes proved too good for Hawthorne's so-called 'banker' combination last pair and Con Keys ensured that Hawthorne's dismal start to the Greenall and Inn Partnership Dominoes League season continued.
Railway maintained their fine start with a convincing win at home to Rylands A for whom Keates and Barnett were the only winners.
Tommy O'Neill is hospitalised after an accident and this meant Touchers had to shuffle their pack and re-establish Tom's brother Bill as partner to Dave Abbott Snr. They produced the goods and clinched the 'derby' win for Touchers over Bank Quay A in the final pairing.
All teams are reminded that the Thwaites Team Charity competition entries must be submitted on Sunday before 7.30pm at Hawthorne or at the Carlsberg Pairs finals in Tetley Walker Club at Sunday lunch time.
All teams must submit a full five-pairs team entry and pay £10 entry fee. Teams not intending to compete must advise Alan James not later than Sunday night and submit a donation of at least £10 to the charity fund.
