WARRINGTON Town Football Club have stepped up their links with junior soccer in the Warrington area.
Eagle Under 11s and Birchwood Juniors Under 11s played a, inaugural curtain-raiser at Cantilever Park on Saturday to Town's League Cup preliminary round tie with Ashton United.
Then at half-time the budding soccer stars competed in a penalty shoot-out to entertain the Town supporters.
It was a good day all round with the excited youngsters providing a thrilling match, which Eagle won 1-0, and then Town went on to gain a victory too.
Town's junior connections continue tomorrow, Saturday, when Penketh United Under 14s will be playing Eagle U14s in the curtain-raiser.
United, managed by former Warrington Town boss Derek Brownbill, will also be presented with their north west fair play award, a full England strip and pennants, for their efforts in 1998/99.
The junior game will kick-off at 2pm with Town's North Western Trains Division Two battle with Bacup following at 3pm.
