Bold Miners...10 Rylands...24
AN EARLY try from Anthony Poole set the tone for this North West Counties Amateur Rugby League match but petty fouls by both sides spoiled the early period.
Rylands conceded a penalty to make the score 4-2 and Alan Brinksman joined the Bold loose forward in the sin bin before Bold crashed over for an unconverted try.
Just before half-time Mike Ward broke through and laid off a superb pass for Poole to grab his second try.
Rylands kept the momentum going with Ian Ward breaking through to score and after Miners again came back they changed gear with Mike Ward running down the wing to go over in the corner and seal the match.
Best for Rylands in the pack were Andy Garratt and Andy Penny and in the backs, Chris Ross, Anthony Poole and Liam Kirkham.
Rylands A always looked the better side in their 25-18 win over Rochdale Mayfield despite trailing in the first half.
Jimmy Brennan's 80-metre interception try brought Rylands back into the game. Mayfield touched down again but Rylands completed the scoring in the first half with a try from Bob Garratt, converted by Andy Brown.
Phil Bromley put the home side one point in front with a penalty but a drop goal levelled it again.
The rest of the game was a brilliant show from the home side with tries by Paul Elliott and Bob Garratt.
Mayfield scored and the difference was cut down to only six points with 15 minutes to go but Rylands had the last laugh with a drop goal from Chris Litherland.
Best for Rylands were John Savage, Bob Garratt, Kevin Lloyd, Dave Todd and Simon Barker.
