COUNCIL chiefs are set to hold talks with other authorities in a bid to set up a new railway station at Whittle Hall.
Borough leaders want the station to serve the planned urban village on the former Burtonwood Base site. They plan to hold talks with neighbouring authorities along the Liverpool to Manchester line to agree on an intergrated strategy.
Clr Mike Hughes, deputy chairman of the borough council's environment committee, said: "We are holding meetings with the other authorities to try to agree a strategic approach. When we have agreed a common approach we will talk with the train operators, Railtrack and the Government Office for the north west.
"The council has not reached any decisions yet and will not do so until we have consulted with the developer, the other authorities and the train operators."
