ARMY Cadets from Winsford Detachment had a taste of the real thing last week with a visit from some soldiers.
Members of the Cheshire Regiment are home in Cheshire for a short time before being posted to Cyprus in the year 2000.
During their busy schedule they found time to visit the Winsford Detachment to show some of the modern equipment being used by the Regular Army.
Cadets were also given the chance to get their hands on the guns!
Captain Hilary Williams of the Cheshire AFC said: "The cadets were delighted to have the chance to talk to soldiers and ask them about Ireland, Bosnia and the forthcoming posting in Cyprus.
"They had the chance to look at night vision equipment and light machine guns amongst various other modern equipment.
"It is a good opportunity for the Cheshire Regiment to develop closer links with the region's cadets and the soldiers also enjoyed themselves."
Anyone interested in joining the cadets can go along on Monday and Wednesday nights at 7.30pm to Winsford Army Cadet Hut, Dean Street or ring 01244 390252.
