SHOCKING new figures have revealed that at least 65 children are involved in prostitution in Cheshire.
The county council announced the figures at a conference on Thursday last week, attended by councillors from Northwich, Winsford and Middlewich.
Councillors are now calling on teachers, doctors and school nurses to help spot the victims of child prostitution.
Cty Clr Moira Chapman said: "It was, to be honest, a horrible and harrowing day. To find out that child prostitution is happening, and on such a scale, was deeply shocking for me, and for everyone else there.
"It applies to both boys and girls, but in the case of the girl, which is most common, she will be 'ensnared' by her boyfriend into having sex with his friend, and it goes from there."
