AN INNOVATIVE Winsford youth scheme has been awarded a grant from the Cheshire Police Authority Community Safety Partnership Fund.
The Detached Youth Work Team (DYWT) have been awarded over £11,000 to continue their work with young people on the streets of Winsford.
The scheme was started two years ago with the aim of making contact with young people who choose not to use youth facilities.
The man behind DYWT, Graeme Bell said: "We go out at night on to the streets and engage in conversation with young people to see what concerns them. We help them to organise activities for themselves and to participate in their own communities."
Recent activities have included bowling, ice-skating and a Youth Council which has met with the police.
"The grant is great news and will enable us to employ extra youth workers," added Graeme Bell.
