A GOAL from Karen Thwaites two minutes from time earned Winnington Park ladies' hockey team a 3-3 draw at home to Yorkshire North League side Ben Rhydding on Saturday.
In a tense and competitive game, Cath Edmonston opened the scoring for Park after a fine solo run, but Ben Rhydding responded quickly.
It remained at 1-1 until just before half-time when Park conceded a penalty stroke and fell 2-1 behind.
Park found themselves on the back foot for the opening period of the second half and Ben Rhydding scored again to establish what looked like a winning lead at 3-1.
However, with 10 minutes to go, coach Chris Davies raised Park's hopes with a well-struck goal. And then just two minutes from time, after a string of penalty corners, Park equalized thanks to Thwaites' tap-in.
PARK'S 2nds earned a useful three points in their division of the Cheshire League with a convincing 3-1 win against Daten.
Rachel Dent opened the scoring with a well-controlled lift past the Daten keeper, but Daten responded with an equalizer just before half-time.
In the second half Park produced some flowing hockey and their accurate passing allowed them to dominate the game.
Dent beat several players on a brilliant run down the right wing, followed by a spectacular cross which was tipped in by June Barlow.
The third goal was scored by Julie Rafferty, who converted a Vicky Marshall cross. Sweeper Julia Harries was named man of the match.
