MEMBERS of a Crewe-based centre are hoping to celebrate the millennium with a special calendar for the year 2000.
The IRIS Vision Resource Centre in Chapel Street has launched a project to create a large print calendar to be distributed to visually impaired residents in the borough.
Members at the centre will plan the calendar themselves, using their knowledge of what is needed, with the help of a graphic designer.
Following on from the millennium prototype the centre is also hoping to create a calendar every year.
Sue Edbury, chief officer at the centre, said: "In keeping with the IRIS Centre aims to help visually impaired people live independent lives, we know that a calendar that partially sighted people can use for themselves will be greatly appreciated."
The full cost is estimated to be about £1,250 with £312 already set aside from its own funds and last week the centre was awarded a grant of £937 from the borough council's Millennium Celebrations Fund.
