Ashton Town 1
Tetley Walker 2
TWO goals in the space of a minute at the start of the second half set Tetley Walker on their way to their fourth league win of the season.
And it came at the end of a week in which Tetley strengthened their squad further, giving a further boost to the squad.
Andy Flood opened the scoring at Edge Green Street on Saturday.
His goal came three minutes after the break with a powerfully struck shot from the angle of the penalty area which flashed across the helpless Ashton goalkeeper and into the far side of the net.
A minute later Jimmy Collins, with his first goal for the club, made it 2-0 when his free kick from just outside the penalty area slipped under the goalkeeper's body.
Tetley had dominated the first half creating several chances without really testing the Ashton goalkeeper.
The home side had to be content with the occasional breakaway, but never seriously threatened.
Apart from the flurry of goals at the start of the half the second half followed the pattern of the first.
That was until the 77th minute when Ashton's Mike Rhead converted a controversial penalty to set up a tense finale as Ashton pressed forward in search of an equaliser.
Tetley: Medland, Corns, Dermott, Trantum, Maher, Woodyer, Jones, Collins, Edwardson, Flood, Healey. Subs: Aspinall, Lonsdale, Gwyther.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Tetley play third placed Nelson at Long Lane, kick-off 3pm.
Manager Alan Aspinall added two more former Garswood Utd players to his squad when he signed defenders Ged Kehoe and Kevin Blundell last week.
