WARRINGTON Rowing Club's winning form continued with three excellent wins in the Runcorn Head of the River Race on Saturday.
The long distance time trial held over 4,500 metres of the River Weaver attracted strong competition with more than 130 entries from clubs throughout the north of England.
The first win of the day for the club was the men's senior two doubles, Mike Ledger and Nigel Wilkinson, who had an excellent row to win their event convincingly.
After their superb win in the Boston Marathon last month the Warrington women's senior two crew, comprising of Anita Marr, Sian Henrys, Gill Lee and Elaine Paddison and coxed by Steve Coxon, continued their success to win their event. In a very tough race the girls beat strong crews from Northwich and Liverpool Victoria.
The men's senior one crew suffered a narrow defeat in the morning division to Agecroft Rowing Club. In the afternoon division the men's senior two crew, comprising of Neil Shaw, Matt Tessier, Richard Bardon and Mike Ledger and coxed by Liz Newton, put in a strong performance to win their event.
The club is in action again this weekend with entries in the Chester Head Race.
Training for the winter season is now well underway. Anyone interested in joining is most welcome at the clubhouse by Kingsway Bridge in Latchford. Club nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm and Sunday at 10am.
