Hull Dockers 21
Crosfields 6
CROSFIELDS' run of impressive BARLA National Conference League Division Two form came to an abrupt end on Saturday.
Crosfields have yet to record a victory on the Dockers home turf and four enforced changes to last week's side made the task all the more difficult.
Hull were on the scoresheet after five minutes when their loose forward crashed over from acting half. The conversion gave Hull a 6-0 lead.
Midway through the half Crosfields' Eddie Bannon split the defence after electing to run the ball on the last tackle. His try was not converted to leave the score at 6-4.
A long range break was well supported and the Dockers were over again. The conversion meant the teams swapped ends with the score at 12-4.
Crosfields were on the back foot from the restart but did well holding the Dockers out until a controversial from the referee.
The last tackle was signalled for Hull, but they ran the ball and a last ditch effort from Crosfields held the would-be scorer up over the line. A scrum was awarded to Hull, who, within two tackles, scored their third try.
Crosfields tried to get back into the game but too much spilled ball and taking the wrong options meant that the only score was a penalty from Dave Gibbons.
Five minutes from the end Hull extended their lead with another long range try and an innury time drop goal.
Neal Brough was awarded man of the match while props Russ Mellor and Barry Lowe grafted throughout.
Converted for the new archive on 13 March 2001. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
