A HOST of celebrities from the world of sport and the small screen are taking to the soccer pitch to raise money for Warrington's peace centre.
Former footy stars including Kevin Sheedy, John Aldridge, Phil Neal, Jimmy Nichol and Frank Stapleton will be joined by Warrington Wolves players, Jos Baxendale of Sale RUFC, Neil Fairbrother of Lancashire Cricket Club and boxer Robin Reid.
They will play against familiar faces from Brookside and Coronation Street in the action-packed match.
Phillip Olivier, better known as Tinhead, Steven Cole who plays Leo and Leon Lopez, alias Jerome, are just three of the famous faces who will be put through their paces.
Mark Owen of Granada News and Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council, will also be donning football boots to raise money for the worthy cause.
And there will be more action off the pitch. Star-struck fans can pick up autographs from the female cast members of the two soaps, such as Suzanne Collins and Ann Marie Davies, as well as buying raffle tickets to win top sports equipment, signed footballs and a host of other prizes. Junior rugby hopefuls and the Solvay Interox amateur side, Tim Parry's former team, will also be showing off their skills.
The event takes place at Wilderspool Stadium on Sunday, November 14, from 12.15pm. Tickets are on sale now from the town's leisure centres, the information centre in Sankey Street, White's Sports in Warrington Market and the GUARDIAN offices, Bridge Street.
The peace centre staff will also be selling tickets from their 'Peace-mobile' outside the Ikea store from Saturday, October 23 to Sunday, October 31. Alternatively, call 442068 for more details.
