HOSPITAL chiefs in Warrington say they are all set for Millennium madness.
Fears of equipment failure, from computers to monitors, have proved unfounded according to independent assessor Action 2000. It has carried out a thorough assessment of the hospital's services and declared it ready to face the pressures of Millennium Eve and the 21st century.
A spokesman for the hospital said: "An independent assessment programme looking at Year 2000 preparations in NHS trusts and health authorities has categorised Warrington Hospital as blue level. This means that the assessment did not identify any risk of material disruption."
This involved a complete review of all equipment used by the hospital and replacing anything that could be affected by the Millennium Bug.
Plans are in place to deal with any increased admissions over this year's prolonged festive period.
A spokesman for the hospital said: "Comprehensive plans are in place to tackle both Millennium and general winter pressure scenarios and contingency arrangements should enable these plans to adapt according to circumstances.
"The Trust will continue working to maintain the hospital's readiness throughout the Millennium and winter pressures period."
Hospital management has also drawn up contingency plans for any extra security that might be needed if celebrations get out of hand.
"Everything is taken care of on the security front and extra staffing will take place as and when it is needed."
