THE future of a Winwick Street rental firm is in question after its parent company went into administration.
Bosses in charge of Standish Self Drive are aiming to secure a future for their nationwide operation, which includes premises in Warrington town centre.
Administrators were called in by Standish owners Beachmore, based in Wigan, after it was revealed the outfit has debts of several millions of pounds.
Joint administrator Brian Green said: "An attempt to sell the company has recently failed and the owners chose to go into administration in the hope of being able to save the business."
The effects of intense competition in the market and the plummeting value of used vehicle prices has been blamed for the company's downfall.
It is believed the Winwick Street depot employs around half a dozen staff. Further announcements are expected on the firm's future next month.
