A LATE goal denied Winnington Park men's hockey team victory on Saturday, as their game against Bolton ended in a 2-2 draw.
Bolton are one of the hardest teams in the league and within a few minutes of the start Phil Boyd had already been upended twice.
The game was very scrappy, with neither side able to hold the ball for any length of time. Park had most of the play, but it was Bolton who opened the scoring.
Far from letting their heads drop, Park came roaring back as James Lewis went on a run which ended in a fine goal to make it 1-1.
A good move down the right led to Lewis getting his second goal in the second half, but after this Park seemed to sit back and the game became scrappy again.
With only five minutes remaining, Nick Moores - who until then had made some fine saves - got an easy clearance stuck under his right foot and Bolton pounced to score.
PARK'S 2nds drew 2-2, with two goals from Morris. The 3rds lost 5-1, with Buckley on target, while the 4ths drew 1-1.
