IN a bid to get more people interested in celebrating the millennium at public events, Vale Royal Borough Council has made it easier to book a late licence.
Under a simplified system, you can apply for a licence for up to 2am on December 31 if your premises already has an entertainment licence.
If you don't, you will have to make a normal application - but enquiries about New Year's Eve will be fast-tracked from now on.
The council stressed that the usual health and safety regulations will still need to be met by any applicant.
And Clr Ron Woodier, chairman of the council's licensing committee, said that would-be party hosts must get their skates on, adding: "It is important that if events are to go smoothly on the night that organising is started well in advance."
You can also get hold of a booklet entitled Safe Event Organisation to help you with your plans, from Vale Royal on 01606 862862.
