Knutsford 2nd 5
Kendal 0
KNUTSFORD 2nds travelled to Kendal on Saturday hoping to win their first away game of the season to add to their points collected at home.
Knutsford began well keeping continuous pressure on the Kendal goal with good play between the forward line of Ian (Tiny) Malcolm, captain Piers Fielding and Dave Bithell.
This pressure was rewarded with an early goal for Knutsford with Fielding slotting a loose ball home, 1-0 to Knutsford.
The remainder of the first half saw plenty of chances at both ends with both goalkeepers in the thick of the action but no more goals.
The second half began much as the first and Knutsford were again rewarded with a second goal for Fielding, set up with good work by Ian Malcolm.
However, Kendal were still in the match and following continuous pressure on Knutsford's goal were rewarded with a penalty flick when goalkeeper Michael Hammond lay on the ball.
Luckily for Knutsford, Kendal's captain put the ball wide.
After this Knutsford upped the pressure with some excellent hockey involving man of the match Geoff Gallie, Dave Bithell and Harvey Bowman on the right hand wing of the pitch.
Once again Fielding struck with an excellent through ball from Dave Bithell allowing him his hat trick, 3-0 to Knutsford.
Kendal seemed to become increasingly agitated and this resulted in them being reduced to 10 men, this seemed to spur Knutsford on and goals 4 and 5, again for Fielding, resulted in a demolition for the Knutsford side.
Other mentions should go to Howard Taylor and Roger Todd in the Knutsford defence who ensured a clean sheet for goalkeeper Hammond.
